So came across a Gerber knife the other day and it's got me stumped. I know it's a Gerber sportsman, lockback style knife. The real question is the inscription it says "IRAN – CRASH of '79" I'll add a couple pics. I've Googled it and found one random post from a knife forum dated from 2012 it appears someone found another one just like this one same inscription.
I'm assuming it's something to do with the failed rescue attempt by Delta Force when the helicopter and cargo plane collided in the desert. I know the operation occurred in 80, but the hostages were taken in 79. Anyone have any ideas?
