Hey r/flashlight,

I'm in search of the most comfortable head strap for a dw3aa to fit in. I've tried all these in the photo, and so far the Sofirn one is very comfortable but the silicon holder part doesn't feel the most secure or balanced for that light. And since it's not made for that light, I'm concerned it won't last very long. One of the loops is getting stretched out over time. The Emisar and Zebra light straps in the photo hold the light very well, but they're too uncomfortable to use for more than a minute, and the Manker one is just too low quality (it actually doesn't fit the dw3aa, but I included it since it's something I've tried with other headlamps, and I think it's bad enough to deserve some attention, hoping that someone at Manker sees this and it gets revised.)

I love that the band for the Sofirn strap is soft and slightly fuzzy to the touch, as opposed to the others. The elasticity strikes a nice balance of firm and soft, and it's an appropriate width unlike the Manker strap.

What I don't like about the Emisar and Zebra head straps are how uncomfortable the light holding parts are up against the forehead. The Emisar one is inflexible and puts a lot of pressure in one spot. The Zebra light one's edges aren't flat, and also put a lot of pressure on the forehead. Otherwise they're good quality, and they would probably work well mounted over a helmet, but that's not me; I only use them over a beanie if anything.

Feel free to share headlamp straps that are comfortable but may not fit the dw3aa, too. I've been really enjoying diving deep into the flashlight hole the past few months, so any information is welcome.

As a post-script, I realize I might be sounding overly critical, but the reality is I'm actually just a highly sensitive person who like what he likes.

  1. I’d be interested in finding a good headlamp strap + mount thing as well but for my FFL L50. The stock one is kinda cheap and only uses rubber loops to hold the light which isn’t very secure, also slightly annoying attaching and removing the light from the mount. I currently use my Sofirn HS21 headband which *does* work, but I have sensory issues and find myself adjusting it constantly due to discomfort ~~and also wanting the light to be aimed juuuust right~~, especially at the mount where it presses on my forehead.

I like one which goes over the top too, meaning that it doesn’t have to be as tight

Never knew Emisar had it own.? I have several Mankers, but no head strap.?
I don’t own any Zebra lights. So that only leaves Sofirn. I have many Convoy, Sofirn & Wurrkos, headlamps/bands, & they have good ones. Maybe I can learn something here myself. My next headlamp will be a Manker E03H III, & was curious about this head band. I like all of Convoy, Sofirn, & Wurrkos bands though. I hear Fenix & Skilhunt has nice ones as well.
