After my rant the other day about the Redoubt, and all it could be, I figured I should take a couple pics of my standard Benchmade Griptilian. This Grip is one of the first Benchmades in my collection. I prefer this version with the thumb-stud/drop-point over the thumb-hole/sheepsfoot version. I found this one for a little less than $100 OTD, making it a pretty decent value, if it's possible for ANY Benchmade to be considered a good value. Despite how big the Griptilian appears to be, it is surprisingly compact. It could probably be best described as a wide knife, more than a big knife. The handle is small enough to fit into the 5th pocket of most of my work pants, so the Grip still gets carried quite a bit. Anyone who owns one of these knows how great they feel in the hand and how great they are to use. Out of the 3, I still actually prefer the size and shape of the Redoubt to my two Griptilians. The Redoubt is a slightly bigger though. That puts the Griptilian in my pocket more often. The result is that this knife sees a lot more use. Such a classic, solid, well-built knife.
