I am definitely a lover of flashlight holsters vs clips. I also love clips and they serve their purpose without fail. but a good holster is a game changer for me. Olight dropped a holster for the Arkpro Ultra and its so close to being one of the best.

Its snug without being too tight. Its a stronger feeling plastic. Theres belt retention on the clip that doesnt let it move when unleashing the mind boggling 1700 lumens on your unsuspecting victim. They even go a step further by giving you a mount that you can wall mount with screws or double sided tape to your toolbox, wall, or bald headed coworker of choice! And to top it off it has a slot for the clip so you dont have to choose between clip and holster!

However…

Why in the year of our lord 2026 on Gods green flat Earth are we still orienting lights during storage (clipped or holstered) with the business end facing up? (Also looking at you Wurkkos HD02 you fucking monster) Its a personal opinion but it doesnt feel right to have the emitter side facing up. Especially when unleashing the demon. Pulling this light from its holster then having to flip it around to face the lumens at my enemies is an extra muscle memory step I do not want. The holster for the MH12 from Nitecore should be the backbone of which all light holsters should take inspiration from. This holster is in need of a little more passive retention. Thats a personal desire and not really a flaw. It does well at retaining without having any extra bumps or grooves but Id appreciate a bit more. My last gripe would be re sheathing. I would love to see a bit of a chamfer on the mouth of the holster to help reholstering without having to have the light dead on at a 90 degree angle. Ymmv but I have only had this issue with this holster (my only flat light holster).

tl;dr Its a great holster. I like it a lot. But imo it would benefit greatly from reversing the lights orientation when holstered, add a chamfer or small fillet to the mouth of the holster. Toss in a smidge more passive retention. Dont change the good. Just change these tiny things and you've got a perfect holster.

Literally my first thought when i saw this pic was “why would they make it like that?!”Β

I regularly wear carpenter pants and I use an Arkfeld Pro for my main EDC. That side pocket is just perfect for me with the clip (emitter down ofc). The pocket is also big enough that i also keep my knife in there and I never have any issues getting to either.

When i dont bring my Olight, I bring my Nitecore EDC37. It has a Turbo tailswitch that goes up to 8000 lumens, so its great if youre looking for defenseΒ
