I've been looking for an idea how to hang my backpack/jacket in bars where is no hanger nearby. A week ago a magnet arrived. Holds both backpack and jacket, attaches to a variety of common furtiture. Happy to share this solution!
(cons: you can stick to the metal door of the elevator. pros: you'll look hilarious)

How many pounds that hold? Also ypu could 3d print a cap for the magnet and have a washer just far enough to hold on the magnet but keep the magnet away from things you don’t wana latch too.
Cool idea, but be careful with that. I can see some bricked phones in your future. Yours or people around you.
Also to keep it from scratching things, you can stick some duct tape to the magnet.
