I wasn’t feeling the red color of my Kershaw livewire anymore so I stripped it down to aluminum, while I was taking it apart to do so I noticed some things.
The red was purchased about 2 years after the black one.
From the outside they’re not identical but most of the changes seemed like hardware upgrades and a heavier release.
Inside there’s not one interchangeable part, the button is spring loaded in the older one, it had 2 springs acting on the blade mechanism, the paws are larger, the new one seems to have a heavier spring and simplistic design in comparison.
Found it odd, I kind of prefer the feel of the older knife’s mechanism.

I forgot to mention that are both the same part number, 9000.
How did you do it? I’d love to do this to a couple Microtechs and Guardian Tactical.
