Pic is obligatory today's carry.
I've had a bit of a bug lately for a Hawk Talon or a Large Sebenza, so I guess I'm asking those who own either what the x factors are that make them worth the premiums they cost, is the Sebenza twice as good as the 940 Osborne? Is the Hawk Talon 4x better than the Spyderco Smock?
At this point the nicest knives I own are Spydercos (Para 3, Ikuchi, smock, Yojimbo 2) and Benchmades (Osborne, Crooked River, Bugout, Taggedout)
So I guess my real question is how much of a jump in quality is there from those to Sebenzas or Talons? I know you're not buying "value" at that level but I'm curious how they stack up against my frame of reference.
I'm vaguely aware of others in the CRK range (Hinderer, Strider, some of the demkos, the Oz Roosevelt) but I don't really have a frame for what Hawk even completes against, Shirogorov? Heretic?

Your answer to is it better is always gonna be not really. You Hold what I consider to be the point of diminishing returns. After this it’s just for the name, design, or steeze that comes with higher end brands. Will they be better? Yes. Will they be better enough to justify the large price increase? almost always no

To answer your talon question. To be honest, anything witht he G&G hawk name is grossly overpriced. They are great knives and super fun to play with but they are made for the people that pay 10k more for the denali ultimate package on a truck over a maxed out regular denali truck.

I mean, yeah you get a little better fit finish quality materials maybe. But when it’s like your 508th knife you’ve owned the feeling is a little dull. Stuff doesn’t wow you as much anymore. I said just get what you like and what you’re comfortable with paying.
