Why does it have a 5 lumen mode? I've seen other lights with similar modes. Is there a use for such dim light or, is it so the companies can brag about how long the light will run?

In complete darkness, 5lm is a lot.
It’s for when you need to see just a little bit.
I have two of them one in each color. Great lights.
It should have a 1 or sub 1 lumen mode but it would likely need a better driver.
5 lumen is a little too bright if you want to be discrete, like when reading in bed without disturbing your SO.
