I picked up this Cold Steel Mayhem a few days ago. I finally had some time this morning to take some photos of it in my garage. As much as love Cold Steel, I've never bought one of their truly huge, XL size, two-handed, pocket-sword sized folding knives until this point. The Mayhem is so satisfyingly massive. It's one of the knives in my collection that reminds me how fun knives can be. This is my first Cold Steel with their Atlas lock. Swinging the comically large blade open and closed while being able to keep your fingers out of the way is awesome. I don't have many knives in AUS 10A, but have read surprisingly good reviews of the steel on the internets. Whether it's a steel that performs well in all aspects isn't really the point of this knife, though. It's main purpose, at least to me, is in how great it looks. The layered G-10 handle scales look fantastic and have great ergonomics with well placed finger grooves at the front and the back for your 2nd hand. The blade is polished so well that it reflects light and contrast no matter which angle you look at it. It looks every bit as stunning as the Cold Steel Silver Eye in S35VN does in the light. Just on a massive, overbuilt scale.

I’ve wanted one for a while, looks like a fun piece to swing around in the backyard.
Hell yeahhh
I love this review OP and share the vibe. I gave away my XL Espada and regret it. Although that was no safe queen. It was my bush EDC and it worked well.
I am wondering if this could play the same role…
Might have to get one and test it out on a moose hunt.
