Snagged the new T29 with SFT42R during the introductory sale for $70. Didn’t need another thrower but for the price, I figured I could sell if I wasn’t into it. Turns out that I kinda like it and will probably keep it for a while for the intended purpose (hunting).
The beam profile itself is almost identical to my Fireflies T9R with SBT90.2, as you can see in the photos. I ran the T29 on turbo repeatedly for about a half hour last night and it doesn’t get hot at all. It gets warm, but it’s so mild it makes me think Acebeam may have left some max output on the table in exchange for runtime, which is fine with me. This thing is bright enough.
Unlike others in this forum, I really don’t mind the rubber USB flaps but this one feels different than others I have. It’s a thick chunk of rubber and feels robust and secure. It feels a little like tire rubber, which is to say it’s premium grade and robust. The product description makes me think the USB port itself is sealed anyway, but I have no way to confirm this.
I wasn’t expecting the green filter to come with the light but alas, it did. Kinda surprised with how much green light gets through it. It’s really nice as a green emitter alternative. Not sure what I’ll use the green for yet, but it’s a niche I now have filled.
Everything else is typical high Acebeam quality. I’m quite impressed with my first SFT42R light.
