You have to choose. Heritage or modern for the rest of your life?
I know yall love your $500 overengineered magnacut super steel whatever gadgets on this sub, but if you HAD to choose- would you go for the old fashioned or new style knives forever? There’s probably a good case for both
I’ll bite. I carry a Buck 112 every day of the year, so heritage for me.

Old Fashioned
We know those WILL last the test of time.
As they say, A Buck is a knife for life. And then some. As it will undoubtedly be handed down for generations.

I had an old buck snap shut on my finger while trying to oil the pivot. Aside from aesthetics, the design sucks ass.

My pie-in-the-sky dream is a two-bladed modern folder with a small wharncliffe and a big main blade.
Something like an elephant toe with a good locking mechanism, and a secondary small blade perfect for opening packages.
Moderns are nice, but either you carry two of them or you get stuck with a knife that isn’t as good at utility tasks (or can’t slice food worth anything) and cleaning tape gunk and package dust off your one blade before using it with food.

if we’re talking strictly the buck 110 vs the bugout i am all in for the 110. I have personally had two bugouts shit the bed and have to be thrown away, but I still have my now 13 year old buck 110. Plus at nearly $200 for a bugout or $40 for a 110 the answer is obvious

My ’88 Buck 110 (user) is still in perfect order and I expect it will still be when it gets handed down. Its forever warranty will be passed down along with it. I don’t have the same confidence in modern knives.

Gotta love the OG but modern for me. Just not a bugout.

I don’t know if a sebenza is heritage or modern at this point.
Whatever it is, that’s my choice.
Shadow_Of_Silver
Modern, but 100% ***NOT*** a bugout.

I’d rather sharpen a stick on a rock

I wish it was easier to find that heritage look with a modern opening mechanism. Love the look, don’t love the nail nik. I tend to keep my thumb nails pretty short, and anyway, two handed opening is a deal breaker.
