DISCLAIMER: This post is a joke.

We pretend it’s about preparedness, performance, or scenarios. In reality, it’s just everyday things doing everyday things.

The point is the obsession around EDC, and how easily “utility” turns into consumerism, mindless scrolling, and the futility of it all.

I’m not anti-EDC — just venting a reflection…

I hear what you’re saying, but there is a certain level of gear that makes the mundane just that little bit more enjoyable. This lineup is just misery.

I mean, realistically, I could get away with just my ID taped to the back of my phone and my singular car key in my pocket.

No need for a Leatherman or knife, if I need one I can either visit the toolbox or find scissors. No need for pen and pad, notes app on phone. Same thing with payment cards, and flashlight, and even watch. No OC spray, never used it once so why even bother carrying it? The ol Nike defense will do just fine. Same goes for CCW. My zippo is just for sentimental reasons so it goes too. I suppose I could even leave my earbuds behind and just listen to music or books aloud.

But… Where’s the fun in any of that??
