So I contacted Loop Gear support about the power bank function on my SK05 not working properly.
After reviewing my video, their technical team replied that the SK05 can only charge a phone if the flashlight’s battery level is 70% or above. They asked me to fully charge the flashlight over 70% and then try again.
Honestly… am I the only one who thinks this makes absolutely no sense?
The whole point of a power bank is to charge a phone when the phone battery is low, not when everything is already well charged. If I have to keep the flashlight above 70% just to make the power bank work, then what’s the practical use of that feature at all?
What makes it worse:
• There is no mention of this 70% requirement on their website
• It’s not in the user manual
• Now they’re saying this is how it’s supposed to work
At this point it feels like either:
1. a design flaw
2. poor documentation
or 3) a very creative definition of “power bank”
Has anyone else with an SK05 (or Loop Gear products in general) run into this?
Is this normal, or are they just trying to dodge a warranty claim?
Genuinely curious what you all think. 🤔

I’m pretty sure I have used my SK05 to charge my phone and ended up with less then 70% of charge in the light.
I’ll run a test just now and see how far I can deplete the battery by using the power bank feature
I don’t believe I’ve had any issue with charging stuff off it regardless of the soc of the light
I’ll ask my coworker. She bought the SK05 Pro and she’s used it often to recharge her phone and Garmin during work.
This makes no sense at all. If you can’t use the SK05 to recharge anything unless it’s sitting above 70% capacity, it’s a worthless powerbank.
I just checked, Powerbank works perfectly fine even below 50% – as it should be expected.
So, you need to bring a power bank to charge SK05 first
As much as I like their stuff, I do dislike their support.
I had nothing but trouble with them.
