Yesterday, my Convoy S6 arrived, which I ordered after learning that my current flashlight might not be (cough) the best (cough). And, of course, after this community sucked me in like a turbo vacuum cleaner.

And what can I say: This torch is really really not bad at all!

  • The SFT40 5000K is as beautiful (OMG! The CRI!) as it is powerful. While I love warm light in general, the 5000K is a lovely white light that makes colors look natural. The beam of my Shadowhawk S9322 pales in comparison (images 2,3,4). Too cold, to low-CRI. Dull beam (it's a Zoomie). The SFT40 is soo much better!
  • The button is well-protected against accidental clicking—almost too well for my fat thumb (image 5). I have to bend my thumb hard to reach the button with the fingertip (image 6).
  • I ordered a magnetic ring that's meant to be glued to the end cap. However, doing so would make the button even more difficult to reach for my fat thumb (image 7). So I'll not mount the magnet.
  • The wrist strap is decent, but I ordered an extra one with a cord stopper. For reasons beyond me, it has two locks: a metal carabiner and a quick-release buckle. I unlocked the end cap of the loop and removed the carabiner.
  • Programming the 12 modes turned out to be challenging. You need 20 half-clicks to enter config mode, but I didn't realize how fast I have to click (faster than switching through the modes.) After a few attempts, I entered config mode but I missed mode 2 and had to wait for the flashlight to iterate through all 12 modes until it was back at 2. Next time, I'll know…
  • The two diffuser caps fit nicely on the light. If—no, when—I'll order an S2+ with an 1800K emitter, this diffuser will surely make a nice lantern. The red one is also just right: the red color doesn't pale even in the highest mode.
  • I ordered a clip that is advertised as fitting an S21, but it fits quite well on the S6, too.
  • The batteries are EVE 35V with 3500mAh capacity. I prefer a true manufacturer brand over a reseller as you'd never know what's behind the shrink-wrap. The plus side has a measly plus mark on the side, so I printed a label to end all ambiguity.
  • I also ordered a battery charger that doubles as a power bank. Nice for traveling, but for home use, I figured a Vapcell S4+ would be much more useful (as it can test and refresh batteries) and ordered one at Wurkkos.
  • The two flashlights on the right in the first picture were used as transport cases for the two extra batteries I ordered. Super cheap, ugly beam, small wrist strap (for children's hands only), but they work.

So that's my first serious pocket thrower, and I'm not a collector but it's surely not the last one.
