I just received my Condor “Plan A Knife” and found out it has a clear coating on the blade. I didn’t realize the blade came with a coating on it when I ordered it but my intention was to attempt a forced patina. My question is what would be the best method for removing the coating with the micarta scales attached to the knife? I’m concerned about the micarta getting damaged, discolored or loose in the process. Would painter’s tape and being carful when applying the stripping compound be enough?
Thanks in advance.

Citristrip maybe? It’s pretty gentle generally. Just apply it carefully with a q-tip.
