I plan on putting an edge on it, buffing the blade and cleaning it up. But I'm curious if it's a quality old knife or an gas station old knife. Either way I plan on fixing it up, I would just like to know more about it.

Bonus question, the knob is loose and the pin in the middle looks threaded. What is the best way to tighten that up?

I was given an old fixed blade that was my grandfather’s when he was a boy scout around the 1930s and have the same question about that nit holding the handle together.

Old knives from Solingen tend to be a pretty good quality. I would keep it. As far as the nut goes, the common sense thing to try is screwing it clockwise

Looks like one I got as a boy from a grocery store.
