Hi! I found this blade that i think my dad made 20 yrs ago in a knife making course but never finished. Id like to finish it for his bday. However ive noticed that the tang might be too far back so that fitting a handle that would be flush with the back of the blade might not work. Is it designed wrong? Can a handle be fastened well? Any tips?

If you need more tang length grind the ricasso up into the blade more. Presumably you’ll have to clean that area up anyway to fit a guard.
