Just got this Kershaw livewire today, absolutely love it. I noticed it ha a slight squeak when retracting but I’m hoping it just needs to be used. Anyway here it is next to my Bel Air!
Good-looking blade. However, I have this exact model and I’m about to send it in to Kershaw. The finish on the flats of the blade is PVD, not DLC, and it started wearing almost immediately, less than 5 days. I think that is probably the culprit for the slight squeak, which mine does as well. Mine also consistently deposits dark particles on a specific spot of the blade on the left side. I’m pretty sure it’s the coating to blame there as well. I’m honestly hoping that Kershaw will just replace it with a different model when I send it to them.
Something to keep an eye out for, friend. Otherwise, it’s a pretty great piece. The design of the internals is fantastic, and I love that it’s ported through the clip screw holes. It’s a very user-friendly knife.
I would also highly recommend a Lynch NW clip for it, it looks and performs much better. I’ve got a black cerakote clip that almost perfectly matches the handle.
