Everyone who's a knife Enthusiast has probably had their wife/girlfriend/ non-enthusiast buddy or relative give you a gift because they know you love blades. Absolute respect and love to my friend who bought this for me as a Christmas gift. The thought is what counts…. But it doesn't change the fact that this is a bona fide piece of shit. They told him it was Damascus steel and handmade with recovered wood from a sunken boat…. The knife should have gone down with the ship .

It's like driving down US 1 and there's a hooker working an intersection … From a quarter mile away it doesn't look too bad until you pull up to the light.

It should be sold at a gas station that smells like Nag Champa incense. It would be on the same shelf next to the "authentic" Costas/ condoms/glass water pipes and rolling papers.

Looks like it was made by child labor…. if the child was Benjamin Buttons and had Parkinson's

They weren't completely lying it's Damasc-ASS etched Steel.

This is the knife equivalent of Meth mouth

Seriously, I can't believe that any company would want this attached to their brand. I'm hoping my friend didn't pay too much. If it was free with a $20 purchase then okay. You could always throw it in a tackle box… And secretly hope to tackle box gets knocked off the boat.

Feel free to post any pictures of horrible knives that you've acquired through the kind efforts of those who just don't know.

Could we get a side view of the blade?

Are those chunks missing out of the spine? And in your follow picture of the blade, just oh no. Steel aside, that grind looks like it was sharpened vertically on a brick.

As you said, it’s the thought that counts, but also if it helps at all, I got a good chuckle out of this write up.

When I first glanced at the business card I thought he was flicking me off, then I realized he was pointing. But what is he even pointing at? 🤣

That’s a rough draft at best. But hang onto it, dude could become the next Rexford 😛

No offense to your friend, but I can almost guarantee that knife came out of Pakistan. They’re famous for making extremely poor quality Damascus blades from whatever scrap mild steel they can find laying around. A lot of times the blades will not hold an edge because the mild steel wasn’t even hardenable steel that would be proper for making a knife. And and that’s if they even bother to try and give it a heat treatment. That doesn’t even look like one of their better examples with the terrible grinds that were put on it. Someone probably imported it for a buck or two and sold it to your friend.

The best thing you can do with it now is accept the gift in the matter in which it was given. Tell your friend you love it and put it on a shelf. Be careful cutting food with it because occasionally a bit of lead makes its way into the scrap pile they melt down to make those and it’s not food safe. Also put some oil on it once in a while or it will likely rust.
