Sofirn IF30
What you get
In the box you get the light, the massive 32650 battery cell, a lanyard, replacement O-rings, and a USBC charging cord.
Build quality and UI
The build quality of this light is pretty good. It feels solid yet heavy to hold. The knurling is comfortable and adds good grip. It feels really well made. The anodizing feels high quality. I will say that the battery seems to rattle around a little if you shake it, but I have not seen any battery disconnection issues from that. As for the UI, it’s simple and effective. Click for on and rotate clockwise to ramp up or counterclockwise to ramp down. 1H changes between flood, spot, or both. I like the auto lock feature, since I have young children, but I do wish it was a bit longer than 15 seconds before it locked. If the auto lock time were adjustable or the ability to disable it all together would be an improvement. I will say the rotary switch being so close to where the head of it juts out from the body makes it a bit hard to get my thumb entirely on top of it and my switch seems a bit tough to rotate. I’m hoping that that is because it is new and needs to be “broken in“. Because of those two things I just mentioned I found myself using both thumbs to rotate the rotary switch. It can tail stand well, though it would benefit from a powerful magnet there. The bezel makes it stand easily that way as well.
It is bulky and heavy. This is not an EDC light, which is what I tend to prefer. But the trade off is battery life and battery bank capabilities.
Performance
Here is where this the IF30 shines. With the total of 13 emitters this thing is bright as hell. The spot from the SFT40 shines far and bright with a nice bright center circle spot. The flood emitters, 12xTN3535s, work great as well. Combined they are impressive with a claimed 12,000 Lumens. I haven’t had it long enough to really test the battery but it should last a while on one charge. In my experience I haven’t seen significant drop off on turbo.
TLDR
I love the build quality, impressive performance, and really simple UI. This thing is essentially two powerful flashlights merged into one. That being said, it isn’t comfortable in your pocket. It is bulky and heavy. But what would you expect from such a massive cell and two lights in one? I think a little UI update to change the lock-out feature I mentioned earlier and the addition of a strong magnetic tail cap would be improvements. The rotary switch is a bit tough to rotate but I’m thinking it needs to be broken in to loosen up. And once that happens it won’t matter as much that it is very close to where it flares out towards the bezel.
All in all it’s a great addition to my collection and I do see myself putting this in my jacket pocket or backpack when heading out at night. The high build quality and great performance seem well worth the price.

The IF30 is my favourite big light. I find it much more comfortable to carry than the SP36 Pro and more versatile than the Q8 Plus.
