I carry a Sharpie in my bag and it comes in handy at least once a week.
I like the newer-style ones where you can click them to open instead of the cap.
Just yesterday I used it at my sister’s birthday party. She needed a little “Weldome” sign, and they were going to write it in pen. But thankfully I had my marker.
Here’s the one pictured that I buy:

My work goes through permanent markers like nobody’s business, and as far as longevity and hand feel BiC is best so far. Sharpie brand is good but too long for my employees with smaller hands. Using these one handed is a must. Amazon is fine but they don’t last as long, and the retractable mechanism fails a lot. BiC intensity is the way to go for us. We go through an average of 24 markers a month.
I use Milwaukee Inkzall or Klein Scribes…. Sharpies and Bics just don’t write well on anything wet or metal
