The wear gives it character. From someone who’s struggled with trying to re-spray paint and recoat flashlights and knives and stuff, I say just let it go.
However… if you really want to try stuff out, this is something I wanted to try…
Get a cheap toaster oven at a swap meet or discount store, get some oven-cure black spray paint. Take the clip off the knife, remove the old paint with sandpaper, degrease it, lay it out on foil, spray it and bake it. Might give you a nice finish. Or it might look like crap.
Better than a silver clip, still not much concealment when there is any clip though I’d say.
