I've had this for a good while now and its been abused. Its been through a deployment and a multiple field problems. Its opened ammo crates, cut straps, sand bags, with wittled wood. It has disloged rock, mud, and grease from various equipment. It's cut through hoses, tarps, and other questionable things.

I've been looking hard at the Adamas 275 for quite a long time. My question is…is it overkill? Is there another account better Benchmade knife for me? I love the size of this current knife

Benchmade is generally so overpriced for what they are. I’d take a look into what Kershaw, Cold Steel, Civivi, and Spyderco have to offer that you like.

The Adamas is not worth the hype IMO. I have one (folder not fixed) that doesn’t get used much. It’s certainly chunky and feels strong, but the weight and blocky design doesn’t carry well. There are other knives that end up being abused so … 🤷

  3. Adamas is overkill because it was built to be overkill. They also sell mini-adamas. I really like the one with marbled carbon fiber scales.

I always thought they were cool, but over time I’ve realized not only will I most-likely-never need a knife that tough, that thing is expensive and I don’t really buy knives with thumb studs anymore.

I love the Mini Adamas. It’s a big knife without being huge.

You’re probably going to run into plenty of Benchmade hate on this page unfortunately. I myself love them and have especially liked my Bugout knife in particular.

If you are looking for an all around good quality USA made work folder, check out the Zero Tolerance 0350. You can thank me later.

Cold steel knives are more reasonably priced and perform quite well in my experience.

As someone who loves Benchmade knives, their pricing is stupid. If you’re dead set on a benchmade try to pick one up off the swap. I see the mini Adamas and the full size on there for sub $200 regularly.

As others have mentioned, the US Kershaw knives are pretty sweet. Especially for the money. There’s a ton of other options as well. Most retailers have an option to filter by country of origin if US made is what you’re really wanting.

Certified Benchmade hater here. Happy to suggest plenty of properly-priced USA-made alternatives!

  10. Nothing wrong with this CRKT. Although Chinese made its still a good knife. I have had my M21-02G for years and had good service

I have a Strider SnG and an SMF. Love them both and they will do whatever you want them to. Lots of hate on here for them but whatever. Pricey though.

If you can find a good deal on one benchmades are good. They also started making new crkt m16s with the axis lock as well, but not made in America sadly. I would add It helps to be comfortable with disassembling knives since axis locks tend to break. It’s very rare but it happens. Out of the 6 axis locks I’ve owned 2 ended up with broken springs. I’ve just learned to replace them now it’s not a big deal.

Benchmade sucks look at Spyderco, made in Golden CO

Use your veteran status to buy one through GovX. Only 30% off but it takes some of the bite out of the butterfly tax.

  15. Love the crkt spear point, look after it and will look after you. Budget blade but amazing

No, you absolutely don’t want a Benchmade. If you want a knife that will work hard, last a long time, and can be easily replaced, you want a Rat 1. End of list.
