For a long time I’ve had my eye on the shortcut, for me it killed a few birds with one stone. For starters I love the idea of carrying a near custom knife but hate the thought of destroying the blade, I also have always had a natural drawing towards the weird and quirky knives. The more controversy I saw around the shortcut the more I wanted it.

The build quality is excellent and there is not a single flaw about the knife itself, everything is knocked down and the ergos are surprisingly good, it’s light so but still feels incredibly solid. But if you like to feel like there is a brick of metal in your pocket this isn’t it.

It’s fidgety as all hell and I honestly just find myself flicking it back and forth when I’m just sitting somewhere or watching tv. It makes a very distinctive clicking and thunking sound when you open and close it and is just overall extremely addictive to play with.

I guess we should address the elephant in the room. The hawk shortcut at its core is a fancy heavily over engineered 500$ titanium box cutter. And that’s true but I would push you to think about it differently, it’s a midtech made In a two man shop right here in the USA that happens to have a actually very useful machanic of replacing the blades. The people who buy this know and understand that you can get a box cutter for much less and yet these are sold out every time they drop and get snapped up on secondary too this day.

In my eyes this is perfect, if you are looking for an insanely nice secondary blade that will bring you joy evertime you use it, and you have the money to spend I would recommend this. It will not disappoint. I find myself looking for reasons to use it wherever I go.
