My PM2 hasn’t got a great action, but has hung in through a let’s say- troublesome Spydie youth.

It was suggested that maybe I disassemble and clean it. I did. It was a… little dirty.

Hey- calm dow- at least I had oil in the pivot.

Do you guys polish the bronze washer mating surface and bearing surface of the blade?

Any benefit in spending more time in polishing than just Flitz, that a normal human can feel the difference with?

I’d polish the washers themselves on a strop, and just clean the blade itself with a microfiber. That way if it introduces any blade play you can just swap the washer(s) instead of potential making the blade wonky.

You can absolutely polish the washers with a very fine abrasive. I generally do that if they have visible tarnish in them. As for the blade I use a microfiber cloth and some Tuf-Glide to clean. I’ll occasionally add some Knife Pivot Lube to the pivot but anytime you put lube/oil in the pivot you’re going to get more pocket lent/debris stuck in there and have to clean it sooner.

It looks like you did an acid wash on it without protecting the pivot area. Probably why the action was shot to begin with.

Polish the washers up and it’ll wear back in over time.

Yes I like to polish the washers, optional the blade contact area as well.
