Gave in to my intrusive thoughts and picked up the M61NH engine from Kōsen, and an MD2 body + high/low ring from Malkoff. Quick review: it’s a chonky and heavy fella, but it carries pretty well for its size with a Cloud Defensive clip. Tricap is neat. Beam with the domed 519a 3500K is, of course, absolutely gorgeous. And I must be getting a lot simpler in my mode preferences, because there’s a part of me that could see a simple 2-mode light being plenty useful in the day-to-day.
Also! I found some more switch boots that fit the McClicky over at Prometheus Lights. You have to flip them inside out and trim off the nub inside, but it’s quick and easy with a utility knife. I’d say the Dawson covers are a little stiffer, but the Prometheus ones work just fine.
Pictured left to right (beamshots are bottom to top):
* MDC 1-2v 519a 4500K domed – AA body – yellow Prometheus boot * MD2 519a 3500K domed – FDE Prometheus boot * MDC 3.7-9v Bodyguard 519a 4500K domed – 16650 body – red Dawson boot * MDC 3.7-9v 519a 5700K dedomed – 14500 body – blue Dawson boot * MDC 3.7-9v 519a 4500K dedomed – 16340 body – green Prometheus boot * Extra 14500 body – GITD Dawson boot

Not surprising given it’s a domed 519a, but it seems much floodier in that beamshot. Even in the thumbnail one of the beams stands out as being thicker than the other.
