So I picked up the BHQ Lum Tanto dealer exclusive re-release, and here’s my thoughts.
Was pleasantly surprised at the symmetrical grind considering it’s a Seki City product. IYKYK. But was puzzled at the lack of fine detail finishing in comparison to other knives from Seki. Every fitting comes with a d-shaped capture hole which is really nice when it comes to assembly and disassembly. Blade runs on washers and they were nicely polished .
So while everything was well polished in terms of the liners and the blade every angle was at a sharp 90° which is annoying AF. So while it was not a big deal to break all those edges while I had the knife disassembled It was still puzzling that it came that way from the factory.
My biggest complaint was that it did have minor lockstick and was locked up at about 55% right out of the box. And once I took a good look at the lock bar face I understood why. There were chatter marks all across the lock face. Again that’s not a problem for a guy like me to clean up, but it really shouldn’t be there to begin with and Joe average user probably would be pretty irritated with this knife, good thing I’m not Joe average user.
TL,DR: Solid knife but needed work to make it right for me.
