I’m trying to dip my toes into the flashlight game and saw some recommendations for this company, figured I’d go for the lowest end of the price point on the website because I’m really not looking for anything fancy. My prior experience with flashlights are the big one metal ones under the sink for power outages, the occasional childhood plastic one that had several modes, vacation keychain ones that break before you can add batteries, and the back of my phone light.
Needless to say, I know nothing about all these numbers and battery types, if you asked me what a “boost driver” is I’d tell you it belongs in a car. All I’m looking for is a light I can keep in my pocket (maybe with the pocket clip add on) that throws a nice bright beam, maybe adjustable in width if possible, and I ever so slightly care that it could be warm in color/tone. If it has to be the pearly gates level white that I see in Temu ads, that’s fine, I’m not expecting much customization out of a $35 light given what I see y’all spend on here.
Any help would be appreciated immensely🙏

Good adjustable beam lights aren’t common. I would recommend a dual channel D4V2 with 519a 4000k with dome on one channel and W1 on the other. This way you have warm white flood and throw in one light. Get both the magnetic and non magnetic tailcap that way you can figure out which you prefer. Asides from that, order a charger and Samsung 30Q batteries from 18650 battery store or other reputable sellers.
Definitely choose the 519A led. If you don’t know which, start with the 4500K with dome.
Boost driver means better efficiency/runtime, but lower turbo (just the first 30s).
If you want a wider beam, add the floody optic.
I would recommend D3AA instead of D4V2 for your first Hanklight (if you don’t need the longer runtime of the bigger battery) – efficient boost driver by default, more pocketable, almost the same output.
