I own 5 Kizers, but finally decided to get my first sheepdog. With purple aluminum scales and 154cm blade steel, at $119 this is actually on the low value side as far as Kizer’s pricing goes. Good thing is that Kizers provide such great value, that even their low value offerings are competitive in the knife market. And did I mention purple??

Here’s the thing. The design makes it worth it. It’s strange how within a hobby that revolves around a utilitarian tool, an element like design can be so important. But it makes sense! The ergos, the blade shape, the recess for the index finger on the spine of the blade for utility cuts…combine that with .110″ blade stock thickness and you have an incredible user. The fidget factor from thumb studs combined with the spydie hole is great. The acoustics of the action (both opening and closing) are satisfying.

I’m generally not a fan of coated blades (save DLC), but the stonewash is attractive and should hide wear decently well. Lockup is rock solid in all directions. This will be my last Kizer for a while as I’ve neglected some great brands, but I’m glad I have a sheepdog in the collection.
