I wouldn’t use that knife to cut any food.
Looks like standard issue Pakistani damascus. Might contain lead.

Sheath, and yea anything acidic will rust/patina steels with a high carbon content pretty quickly. If you don’t want the patina rinse with water and dry, I keep a coat of mineral oil on knives that get used regular for food, if not using it for food any oil will work.

Wd40, a rag and some elbow grease have worked for me in the last. But I wouldn’t use that knife on food.

There are a few ways to remove that patina.

    1. Buff it with a plain wheel or one with no scratch compound

    2. White scotch brite pad, and scrub pretty hard

    3. 2000+ grit sandpaper, though this might remove the laser etched damascus that blade appears to have.

There are others, but those are the easiest.

Stop buying Pakistani knives made out of old toasters… J/k

  6. Metals not gonna be the best on those, lime juice and baking soda should do it. Usally usd an old tooth brush
