I figured I’d try out Simon’s R70 4000K XHP50.3 HI since it has a 5D chromaticity bin, and I have to say it didn’t disappoint. I paired it with an S21A, 15° beaded TIR and a 17mm 6V5A driver.
For whatever reason I just can’t get the pics to do it justice. Pic #6 is a triple dd 5700K 519A on the left and the XHP50.3 on the right, but the XHP is noticeably rosier in person, which the duv verifies. On 100% the XHP duv is -0.01109 vs the 519A duv -0.00561.
Even with the 15° TIR it doesn’t throw far. Pic #4, the reflective thing on the pole is about 60m away.
Obviously I’d prefer it was R9050, but I knew there was no way I would get a nice tint. I guess I’ll just keep waiting for Simon to get some 4000K SFT-40s to fit that bill. That being said I’m still quite happy with it.
