What would be the least destructive way to remove rust from the blade?
If It just needs to be ground down and sharpened, how would I go about it?
Ideally I want to keep the letterings intact to the best of my ability.

Its a higonokami right? The letters are etched deep enough that some high grit sandpaper won’t scratch it away, except for a dremel or a grindwheel.
It’s part of the patina, doesn’t damage the blade in anyways, it’s purely aesthetic, but barkeepers friend will help if you don’t like that look.
