My first attempt at putting a new handle on an old blunt knife I had laying around. Pine wood handle, glued together with gorilla glue and held tight with inter screws used as the pins. Heads ground off and a bit of teak stain for the handle and I think it’s not too shabby for a first attempt. The handle feels alot smoother than it looks in photosi®
Electrician by trade – definitely not a knife maker😂🤪.

    Good effort!
Not that you’re looking for a randos opinion but a few things that might help ya out:

Fit the scales with tighter tolerance before initial fit up.

A stabilized hardwood will make a much better scale if you are dead set on wood. You can always stabilize your own!

A belt grinder with removable arms and wheels will make a huge difference in roughing out your scales. Especially if you have any tight radiuses or curves.

Ps. A jimping file is a very worthwhile investment in getting tight, uniform jimping.

    Good luck and happy knifemaking!
