Last year I lost my LM Wave+ and I was devastated, to me it was the ideal multi tool for my work as well as my hobbies of hiking, general DIY and messing around with cars.

When I lost it I decided to wait to replace it until I know I’m not going to lose it again, so I took a punt on a cheap Xiaomi HouHou K30 instead.

It’s pretty much a Wave + clone but the plier jaw cutters are not replaceable, no precision screwdriver but it does however have a full size bit holder which I really prefer.

The bit supplied is a double ended flat and Philips head bit with ball bearing retention.

It feels a few percent bigger than a Wave+ but is reassuringly weighty. The tools move cleanly and lock as they should.

After a month I can say it was definitely worth buying. I’ve used it daily at work which is in manufacturing, it’s opened up many boxes and wrapped pallets and this week I was able to use the pliers to loosen a nut on a section of wire site fencing I needed access to. The full size bit has also been better than the flat bit on the LM when it’s come to undoing Philips head fasteners.

It was bought from Aliexpress for £29 GBP and took two weeks to arrive.

Whilst the original LM Wave is still superior in terms of quality, I’d say that if you want a tool to leave in the car or truck, something to take somewhere you could lose it (the lake, fishing, beach etc) or a first MT for someone then I’d put this at the top of the list.
