It always bugged me that they used rivets for a Maxamet knife so I’ve been on the hunt for a suitable donor, found one in the form of a BD1N factory 2nd. Got her all cleaned up and the rust out of the pivot. Digging the blues starting to come through on the patina, but confused by the way it’s forming on one side. I saw another Maxamet knife posted a while back that did the same thing when a really dark patina was forced on it. It just didn’t take at all around the Spydiehole. I thought maybe it could have been from finger oils protecting the surface from etching, but mine is on the wrong side of the hole. My thumb interacts with it on the side that is starting to patina… Any ideas what could cause that? I’m not pressed on it aesthetically so long as it doesn’t oxidize.
