Why aren’t there more Wave-based multitools out there with a single layer of outside implements?

With dozens, if not hundreds of Leatherman Wave+ clones out there these days, and a fair handful of iterations from Leatherman themselves, I’m surprised there aren’t more variations on the market that go with only have one layer of outer tools on one side of the tool. Doing this goes a long way towards making the tool more pocketable and lets you cut a surprising amount of weight. Is it just that the manufacturers think that prospective buyers are more allured by high implement counts when shopping for these things?
