I wanted a replaceable blade. So I bought a generic scalpel holder and modded it to fit the tool. There’s a leaf spring that resists opening the knife blade and assists with holding it in place, and a block between parts of the frame to keep it in tension. I ground that block down so the scalpel holder would fit in the frame (bonus that the leaf spring holds it open – not a lock but next best thing). I cut a notch in the scap holder for a thumbnail, and then ground a curve out of the frame to make it easier to access. Works well. Super happy to have a replaceable blade on this tool!
Updates on previous: I ground down the pin that holds the blade, so no more washers. I was afraid it wouldn’t be threaded all the way through but it was. I ground down the knife blade to meet work security requirements. I found a 3.5” knife a little unwieldy for what I normally do with it anyway.
