I love my Surge, have used it tirelessly for the past decade plus! This was just an interesting time where my little Powerpint was actually the better option for this job! Ideally I would have had a proper pair of cable cutters for this task to cut the fat bike brake cable that had frayed, but I just had my surge that I keep in my vehicle’s toolkit and my powerpint that is in my edc sling bag, so had to make do. Really it is just the way the pliers close on the surge, make it so it would lock on the cables and not cut them and the handle would then bend like this. I had to pry them open using the Powerpint actually. The Powerpint on the other hand doesn’t bend this way when clamped on the cables, thus I could make multiple cuts with it, as it’s fixed and its handles cannot bend that way, when in use, like the surge. Again, I love my surge and more often than not it is more than enough for the task at hand, and just such a great multitool all around, this was just a neat case where I found the Powerpint actually out performed it.
