After losing my beloved Skeletool I’ve been looking for a replacement edc.
Requirements:
– not $75 like Skeletools are now
– lightweight
– knife, pliers, screwdriver
– one hand operation
– blade <2” (security reqmnt at work)
– belt clip
– serrated/replaceable blade
I was able to mod this Nextool to hit most of that. It’s very light. I removed the frame and cutoff the part covering the blade so it could be one-handed, and added a belt clip. Initially the size made using the blade uncomfortable, but I’ve found by opening it halfway it fits well in my hand. Only bit it’s lacking is a serrated/replaceable blade. Oh well. Looks like I’ll be sharpening it regularly. I’m pretty hard on blades. Won’t sharpen it too much as there’s a risk to cutting my thumb on opening.
