Hi all,
I just found this community and am very excited as I love (mostly small) multiools – I can’t imagine not having tiny spring-loaded pliers on me anymore and going back to a plain old penknife. I was a long time Leatherman Squirt obsessive until recently discovering the potential of the Style PS, and I wanted to share some modifications I’ve made that you might be interested in.
First, I’m sure you all know about [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/234967783370?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20220705100511%26meid%3Da1a528a132294af293d08f5871760956%26pid%3D101524%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D234967783370%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c101524.m146925&_trkparms=pageci%3A56ec522f-1975-11ee-8b01-22cc56414e07%7Cparentrq%3A1ab5210e1890ab847731d247fffda73e%7Ciid%3A1) awesome 3D printed mod someone made that allows you to use any leatherman bits. The maker is US based but does have a separate listing with international shipping.
I mostly use the default bit that came with my Surge as it has a pretty universal flat head and phillips (I’m in the UK btw) – between this and the file head I can do any small job and I go grab my Surge for anything bigger. I did actually file down one of the flat head screwdriver bits in my bit set into a little sharp blade, but in the end it was a bit useless, it’s too small and the scissors are always better, and also dangerous to have exposed at all times, but it is a funny option. I also have the glassbreaker bit in my pocket organiser, but I suspect I will never actually use it …

Second, this might not be to everyone’s taste but I love my little tool to be maximally accessible and I’ve always hated the lack of a pocket clip on the Squirt and the Style. At some point I came across [this](https://www.amazon.com/KeySmart-Nano-Clip-Pocket-Holder/dp/B018IN1OZ0/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1RJKZHLT32SHG&keywords=keysmart+pocket+clip&qid=1688370604&sprefix=keysmart+pocket+clip%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1) KeySmart Nano clip, which just happens to fit amazingly on the Style. As you can see it even opens up at just the right point to leave the screw exposed and just works perfectly. Visually I think it looks consistent but it might not be to everyone’s taste. They do have a chrome version too. Anyway I glued this on with super strength Gorilla glue, just a very small amount and it is very securely on there. Tip: When gluing, open up the tool fully e.g. the file so there’s no chance of glue dripping on there, I got a bit on my file and it has gone in the cracks of the diamond file making that bit not work properly at the moment – I think I can dig it out over time (any advice?) so not too worried.

Third, and most simply, the victorinox toothpick will happily replace the tweezers that come on the outside of the tool. I think a lot of people agree the tweezers are a bit pointless because the pliers are usually better even for small tasks, but also the toothpick, as well as being a toothpick is actually a really useful tool. It’s a flexible but robust little non-metallic (not going to electrocute you) poking tool so I find it very handy, firstly for cleaning out the Style itself but also for getting into little spaces, for example in between keyboard keys etc – I use it loads!

Finally, I used a diamond file to put some little bumpy serrations on the bottom side of the nail file thing to make it a bit more like the Squirt file (although less fine than that), just a bit of roughness. This makes it a decent package / tape opener. I’m going to get a finer diamond file soon and improve it, but it already cuts through cardboard pretty good actually, and through things like tin cans. In fact I opened a few tin cans by hammer-fist jabbing down through the lid with the point of the file and then effectively sawing through. Not something I’m going to do a lot but would work in a pinch!

With all these modifications, one final bonus is that this little guy looks eerily like a Star Wars style speeder-spaceship thing, which makes me smile sometimes 🙂

Bye!
