I bought myself a Swiss Tool MXBS for my birthday recently, and while I really love the tool overall, I’m somewhat concerned I may have received a subpar unit. First, all of the tools are very tight/stiff, even after oiling, and I have broken my nails opening those adjacent to the screwdriver. Second, the main non-serrated blade seems… extremely dull? I’m not a knife person, but I can barely open a letter or slice a piece of paper with this thing, while the serrated butter blade on my old Spirit has no issues. Also, the black oxide finish seems… murky? The ruler markings are barely visible in even the best lighting.
Do you think I should return the tool? If so, what would you recommend instead? I am eyeing the Swiss Tool X (silver), Leatherman Wave+/Charge+ TTi, or possibly the Free P4. (It’s worth noting that I don’t find the Swiss Tool too heavy for EDC in my pockets.
