I’m deciding between the skeletool and signal for an edc. I off road and camp on occasion as well but I normally carry tools

The signal has some specialty tools on it like a whistle and a fire starter but it always seemed like a bit of a gimmick to me, I think the skeletool doesn’t have enough tools for the price. Between the two I would choose the signal. Also the picture shows a Leatherman MUT which is a military focused multitool with gun maintenance features.

I’ll always recommend a wave or a surge, but between the signal and the skeletool I think the signal wins for outdoor use.

I find the Skeletal too flimsy and I really dislike the general quality of all Leatherman stampings and machined edges – everything is very sharp edged and needs some time to “wear in”.

I don’t know what tools the other option has but I would absolutely make sure that it has a toolkit holder that is robust and easily accessible.
I find the combination of quality pliers and tool bit holder extremely useful as an always with you multi tool.

I use a Wave+ but would perhaps rather opt for a Surge next time around (if you don’t have to carry it on your body too much that is).

I don’t think most folks need to EDC a tool with a whistle and a fire starter.
