After carrying a Skeletool for 15 years I think I’ve finally found something I like better (NexTool Knight)

  1. Okay, but why? I’d take pliers over scissors every time. What’s the square/rectangle tool at the top right in second pic?

Have had one since around February and it’s been alright. Did take it apart many times to change the order of the tools on the awl side, as I prefer the flathead to be first, followed by the can opener and the awl. Also, moved the spacers out from between each tool and moved them to the sides. This makes taking out the tools out easier for me, as taking out the flathead moves the tools out in a spread to select which one I want to use.

Other thing I did was add some zip ties to the thumb tab of the knife to make it easier and more comfortable to take out.

My only complaints with it are:
    – the 3mm hex hole on the bottom should have been metal, which would allow you to use 3mm to 1/4 bit adapters
    – the 5cr steel is ok but soft. Would have preferred 12c27 but that would double the price of the tool and would take a year to source
    – the phillips should have been combination #1+2, I believe it’s only a #1
    – the nail nicks for the can opener, awl and phillips aren’t great…

Overall it’s a decent tool and a great alternative to a Leatherman Free K4 (5x the price!), the Free T4 (3x the price) and the SAK Tinker. Also, the mod potential is really great as one could easily print 3d parts to add plus scales.
