So I recently bought the HS45, thought Sofirn makes great lights because I already own a few and I like them very much…
Yeah no the HS45 is far from great and their support is also a pain on this one…
Starting with the IPX6…
The first review that was posted on Reddit was from PiercingTheDarkness, he dismantled the HS45 and revealed that the fan is a generic and cheap one. And it has zero protection against water.
I confronted Sofirn with that and demanded to get my money refunded and get a paid shipping label to send the HS45 back to them.
Please note I would never have bought it if it weren’t IPX6 as I use it in the rain and humid conditions that require IPX6.
Well…the insisted it’s IPX6… their so called “engineers” tested it themselves 😂
And then they told me to NOT rinse the fan with water to clear it from dust as that would break the HS45, hmmm I thought it’s IPX6? Well they basically admitted to a faulty rating and won’t refund.
By the way here’s the definition of IPX6:
It can withstand water sprayed at high pressure—specifically, 100 liters per minute at a pressure of 100 kPa from a distance of 3 meters for at least 3 minutes.
And I highly doubt that the fan would not corrode over time because its circuit is open to water.
That annoyed me already, now the second part of the adventure with the HS45 and the support…
I received mine in the mail and from the start on it made a scratching sound whenever you tilted while the fan was spinning. I can only explain this because it has some play in the bearing and the gyroscopic forces make it scratch the walls of the bearing, slowly grinding it to its death.
Also the scratching sound is noticeably louder than the normal sound of the fan, so it’s really really annoying to wear on your head…. Every time you move your head your greeted with that lovely sound 😂
Confronted the support again… they told me it’s normal… then send me a video of their test HS45 and it didn’t even do the same thing… told them to compare it again please and next response was, that they showed it to their again so called “engineers” and they said its perfectly normal…
PiercingTheDarkness reported the exact same issue on his review and guess what folks, he’s a reviewer so Sofirn replaced his HS45😂😂
But a normal customer like me, no chance…
I would recommend to NOT buy the HS45. I made the mistake don’t do the same.
Anyone got the same issue with the cooling fan on their HS45?
And has anyone made the same experience with their customer support?
