My wife noticed that I was drooling over this polycarbonate flashlight and she decided that I really need to add my 21st flashlight to the collection so I got it as a gift and I was not expecting it at all.
I was very curious about it and now that I have it (since yesterday so it's not really NLD) … man I really like it.
First great thing is Nitecore's UI, similar to the MH12PRO: it remembers every mode including strobe, no matter what mode is stored you have quick access to moonlight by pressing both buttons and access to strobe by holding both buttons, just after moonlight. I was not expecting this thing to have strobe at all.
Another thing that I like, is that the HIGH mode (just a reminder it has moon-low-med-high-turbo) is realistically placed somewhere below the stable output: 300lumens for 6000k and 220lumens for 3000k. I really wish that my MH12PRO had the HIGH mode at around 700lumens instead of 1200 because that would be below the stable output for it, Nitecore I hope you read this even if know you are never around here on Reddit.
Also, I was not expecting it to be IP67, since the other models in the EDC lineup are not, I consider it very important.
Some stuff to mention:
- The button is well protected and requires a bit of pressure to fully press so I think the chances to have it turned on in the pocket by mistake are minimal.
- The pocket clip is very strong.
- It feels lighter than expected, it has 71g/2.5oz but in my hand it feels more like the Nitecore MT1A Pro that is 52g/1.8oz.
- All 3 color temps feel close to neutral DUV, so not the Nitecore's recent green tint (that I actually like btw).
- Very grippy and comfortable.
- No hotspot, it has a nice floody pattern, it's not round by the way because it has two emitters side by side.
It's a great casual reliable flashlight and because of the materials and IP67 it can also be a work light unless you need long runtimes on high output.
