Welp, I ordered 2 new M21As, with OP reflectors, to do some builds in. LHP73B and NV1010. The first NV I got was shorted and Simon, being Simon, sent me a new one promptly. That guy is awesome. I ordered 2, 20amp bucks. Everything went perfectly with the LHP73B. What a fantastic light! Floodier than my M21K, with a very smooth beam. The buck driver is a little big short, so I stretched out the tail spring and bypassed it. Works very well, battery shakes a little though.
As for the NV1010, I modified the reflector, got a little excited and put a scratch in it, thankfully being OP, it's fine. Modifying it made it shorter, so I had to double up on o-rings. One on each side of the lens makes it pretty difficult to tighten all the way down, but it works. Right now I'm rocking o-ring under the reflector lip and one under the bezel to glass. Doesn't seem to be any difference in beam pattern.
Now, the 20amp did in fact pull 20amps, but at full power the driver kept buzzing and the light was flickering. I pulled the driver, cleaned EVERYTHING, put everything back in as tightly as possible. Still, buzzing. Kind of figured it was because it's a buck driver. So I did what anyone with time and spare parts would do. I grabbed an old MTN FET. 30amps!! And, no buzzing or flickering, just a shit ton of light and a warm hand in a matter of 15 seconds. What an absolute MONSTER. I'm sure it's brighter than my FW21 Pro, absolutely brighter than my SFN60s and dare I say, encroaching on my Q8+ with bypasses and Molicels. Maybe that's just the throw giving me false hope/bad comparison.
