I clearly have a type, as the Rinkhlas joins my CRK Mnandi with Macassar Ebony inlays.

I spent a lot of time deliberating between the two, and ended up buying the Mnandi because it became available first, but I couldn’t stop myself from continuing to drool over the AB.

None of my things spend their life in a drawer or a safe, so the stonewashed blade is a huge plus for me. I considered going with a carbon fiber inlay for its potentially higher durability, but deep down I know that I much prefer wood inlays and would have regretted not getting the Ironwood. After getting this knife in-hand, I know I made the right choice because the wood is absolutely spectacular!

I’ve only been carrying it for a couple days, but the Rinkhals has scratched that itch that can sometimes seem impossible to reach. The proportions, the design details, the finishing, it is all so satisfying. I haven’t carried a slip joint daily before, but it has been really enjoyable. I am excited to put it through its paces, and see how it looks and feels after a year of use and abuse!
