    IMO:

    Warranty = keep

    No warranty = toss

    If you plan to ever sell them, keep the boxes. Knife folks are fucking anal about it and will try to convince you it’s worth half without it.

    I agree with Grand-wazoo about the resale value. If you don’t care about that or warranty then ok. The CRK box, I wouldn’t toss no matter what.

    If it’s a high-end knife that actually has some resale value, I’d keep the box. If it’s like a Civivi or similar, toss it. Keep any warranty papers.

    Man i used to keep all that stuff. Now i find i dont want to miss out on space for storage with boxes that never get used so i tossed them all. I have sent knives in for warranty without the box and had no issues. So i vote toss em. But remember big time knife guys want all box and goodies inside too.

    I keep my Microtech boxes (3) just in case I ever need to send them in

    Toss them the moment your return window is up.

    How’re the microtechs treating you? I have the Ultratech III switchblade, it seems the spring loaded mechanism doesn’t lock out the knife completely every time. I don’t know if this is just because I use it so much or if it’s a known problem.

    Keep until I know if the knife is a keeper or not then toss. If I think I might want to sell the knife later on I keep it until I realize I have a pile of boxes then I go through them all (this is something I need to do soon) If its a budget knife the box isn’t kept at all.

    I keep them until I know I will always carry that knife. Otherwise I’ll sell as users with box people will buy them with a box more often than no box. That and warranty.
