Given the commotion over the bark River knives scandal there's been much ado about whether any of the BRK magna cut is authentic or whether it's the Mike Stewart version of magna cut. I've seen a YouTube video or two compare bark River magna cut versus a buck magna cut sample which had different levels of patina resistance but I wanted to survey a wider variety of magna cut steels subject to forced patina conditions to add some sample size. Unfortunately my bark River bravo 1 in magna cut is currently away from home and if there's interesting results here I can follow up a side by side comparison shortly but for now I'm going to start with taking all of the magna cut and a Creeley magna Max and a creeley Vanax sample that I have and subject them to a little bit of my weak ass coffee with some cream a dab of apple cider vinegar listed as 5% acidity the Heinz variety and some French is yellow mustard all knives were scrubbed meticulously with 91% isopropyl to decrease and here's a start and I'll update with an after after these guys stew for a while.

I have a a lot of experience with Magnacut does stain. But I have never seen it rust. My hypothesis is that finishes matter also heattreat.
