Top 3 are Koenig Arius (G4B6), Machinewise Mojave #1089, and Herman Slim #70.
I picked the Mojave and the Slim up at Blade Tx this year and they quickly booted the Holt and Grimsmo out of the #2 and #3 spots in my collection. I can’t quite explain it, but there is something so unique about the action on the Mojave that makes it nicer than anything I have. It is the lightest blade in this collection (feels like) and it simply drops shut as if it was a much heavier knife- think CKF rotten evo. Usually you can feel the individual bearings moving if you slowly pivot the blade by hand, but there is no such feeling. Out of all of the knives I handled at Blade, this was by far the nicest action that I could find and I must have done 20 laps around the show.
At number 3, the Slim is wickedly comfortable in the hand, although not better than the Koenig. The action on this knife is so fast, pressure on the flipper and you get lots of detent, then boom the knife is open and singing at you in standard Herman fashion. I’m not sure if it’s the detent design, pivot/lockup geometry or simply just this knife, that causes it to pivot open so quickly, but I love it. A few of my coworkers even asked if the slim was spring assisted due to how quick it is. Both of these knives have very thin blades, especially the Mojave, and they are awesome. I didn’t realize till recently how long I have gone in my collection without something that slices this well. As far as geometry is concerned (with my limited experience) these two perform much much better than my spydiechef and my pm2, which are very nice slicers imo.
